Spotify has today announced a major change when it comes to account types. The popular online streaming service is adding two new account types call Spotify Unlimited and Spotify Open.
Spotify Unlimited is a paid account type but with half the cost of Spotify Premium. Spotify Unlimited features ad-free and unlimited access but lacks the possbility of mobile access and offline sync. The price of Spotify Unlimited is €5 /month.
Spotify Open is ad-finance, restricted to 20 hours access per month but costs nothing and does not require an invite.
As of today, Spotify has four (4) account types; Premium (€10 /month), Unlimited (€5 /month), Free and Open.
Comment: It is quite obvious that Spotify wants to both increase sales and focus the attention away from the free account. All account types will co-exist but this move will most likely signup a lot of users to the Open account format which may lead to conversion into either Premium or Unlimited. Smart move!

Following the light of my interest in technology and Internet I can reveal that a new TLD will be opened to the public. Many of you readers are keen on internet and internet busines and the new .co offers an exciting opportunity to snatch a unique domain online.
If you are interested in Spotify and launching a new service, consider getting a .co domain if you can find any other good ones using current TLDs.
I have launched a site telling you how to register, which dates registration open and what to think about. If you are interested, check out www.registercodomain.com
Afront has once again proven his value to the community of Spotify users and Spotify themselves are so keen on the idea that they have chipped in 3 three-months Premium subscriptions to be won by the voters. It is also an added bonus that afront is using Google Docs Forms to collect the results.

Spotify support has said no development is currently planned to support Spotify on Maemo 5.
So, what to do?
Well, “eskil” decided to take matter into own hands and started playing around with “despotify”. After tweaking the interface with Qt 4.6 and being able to deliver a working graphical front-end the hack is working.
The Swedish site www.radiofy.se makes perfect use of the Spotify API. The site is pulling music lists from several channels of SR.se (Swedish state controlled radio) and adds Spotify links and recommendations to each song.
